Xylan®: coatings and treatments for dry lubrication

Why use Xylan?

Polymers known as Xylan are divided into three categories with similar properties:

• polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)
• fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP)
• perfluoroalkoxy alkanes (PFA)

Choosing Xylan coating means addressing the following characteristics:

1. Xylan improves non-stick properties and detachment

   The polymers known as Xylan create hydrophobic, non-stick surfaces that effectively prevent various substances — adhesives, rubbers, glues, inks, paints, plastics, fabrics, leathers and food — from adhering to the metal. In fact, by giving the surface structure a specific roughness, the contact area is reduced by increasing the non-stick properties.

2. Xylan improves sliding and dry lubrication properties

   Xylan-type polymers possess extraordinary sliding properties. Metals, plastics, paper and food are transported much more easily on production and packaging lines when the surfaces are coated with Xylan. In addition, by enriching the coating with solid lubricants, the surface becomes self-lubricating.

3. Xylan improves chemical resistance

Xylan coating is used in the Antifriction Coating A101 system.
