PFAS-free coatings for a responsible future

Article_PFAS_FREE

Protecting surfaces with advanced coatings is essential in order to guarantee efficiency and long life of industrial machinery. Reducing wear, preventing corrosion and improving non-stick properties are key aspects making it possible to minimise machine downtime, thus optimising production processes.

The increasing focus on sustainability has led to a review of regulations on the use of harmful chemical substances, including PFAS (polyfluoroalkyl substances), guiding the industry towards greener solutions.

Towards sustainable coatings

In order to meet this challenge of sustainability and efficiency, Argos ST has developed a series of PFAS-free coatings, designed to reduce environmental impacts without compromising on performance.

These new treatments meet the strictest environmental regulations and offer excellent technical characteristics, demonstrating how innovation and sustainability can go hand in hand.

Research into more environmentally friendly treatments in the world of polymers has led us to offer solutions that guarantee lower friction and wear without using harmful substances:

  • A412: a silicone coating enriched with silicates that is ideal for applications where anti-friction and light traction are required. Perfect for rollers and cylinders in the packaging industry, it offers a balance of traction and sliding.
  • A590: a ceramic coating that does not contain fluoropolymers, notable for its particular hardness and resistance to high temperatures. It is easy to clean and has excellent non-stick properties, making it versatile and applicable in many different industries.
  • A406: this polymer coating stands out for its non-stick and sliding properties, making it particularly suitable for the food-packaging industry, being suitable for use in contact with products for human consumption.
  • D139: characterised by a non-porous surface, this coating offers excellent antioxidising and chemical-resistance properties, making it ideal for the mechanical-engineering and oil & gas industries. Its easy-clean and easy-cut properties notably improve operational efficiency.
  • TS40/A401: this is an advanced coating that combines a tungsten-carbide metal substrate, applied by thermal spraying, with a subsequent polymer layer. This treatment improves traction and resistance to impacts, making it ideal for applications with a high level of mechanical stress.
  • A551: a fluoropolymer-free dielectric coating characterised by excellent resistance to corrosion and chemical exposure, and low water absorption.

A constant commitment to sustainability

Argos ST does not stop here: R&D continues to explore new PFAS-free solutions that can offer further advantages in terms of sustainability and performance.

Argos ST’s PFAS-free coatings provide a solid response to the demands of a market that is increasingly focused on sustainability. These advanced solutions enable high quality and performance to be maintained whilst reducing environmental impacts and tackling future regulatory challenges.

This commitment not only regards treatments, but extends to corporate practices, integrating ESG (environment, social and governance) principles into all aspects of the business.

Argos ST’s mission is clear: to contribute to a more responsible and sustainable industrial future.
