Argos ST is a benchmark of innovation and excellence in the treatment and assembly of components for the automotive industry, with a particular focus on electric cars. Our solutions are centred on cataphoresis and the assembly of critical components, supported by the capability to perform separate pre-treatments.

Cataphoresis and double pre-treatment

The cataphoresis process is designed for provide superior anticorrosion protection, one of the defining elements being the ability to offer separate and specific pre-treatments for different materials. Our systems offer high productivity for processing of small and medium-sized parts. The maximum dimensions permitted for cataphoresis are 1,000 mm length, 1,200 mm width and 1,800 mm height, with a maximum load of 250 kg. Pre-treatment, or pre-wash, is a crucial step that guarantees optimal adhesion of cataphoresis on various base materials. In addition to pre-treatment of ferrous and galvanised materials commonly used in the industry, we have developed a specific pre-treatment for aluminium and its alloys, essential to meet the needs of modern vehicles.

  • Ferrous and galvanised materials are essential for the structures of vehicles and require specific treatments to ensure corrosion resistance and durability. Our pre-treatment for these materials utilizes highly effective degreasers and phosphate conversion coatings, preparing the surface for the subsequent cataphoresis treatment and ensuring optimal adhesion and lasting anticorrosion protection.
  • Our plant’s greatest strength is the dedicated pre-treatment of aluminium and its alloys. These solutions are essential to face the challenges posed by modern cars, which increasingly use aluminium in order to reduce overall weight and improve energy performance. We use degreasers, passivation agents and titanium conversion coatings from leading multinational chemical companies. These extremely high-quality products are increasingly widespread in the automotive industry. This specific pre-treatment enables the processing of components in various aluminium alloys, used not only on electric cars, but also on sports cars and luxury models. Our ability to adapt to the requirements of these industries enables us to offer a highly specialised service that is aligned with the demands of the market.

Once treatment and cataphoresis is complete, the components can proceed to powder painting, which we perform with a modern HDLV plant. This innovative coating technology from Nordson offers optimal efficiency and uniformity in accordance with the highest quality standards.

Assembly of automotive components

Our Borgaro Torinese plant has implemented its experience and expertise in separate pre-treatments in the context of an ambitious project involving the processing of components produced to reinforce the transmission tunnel of an electric vehicle. Cataphoresis of three different components required involvement of the technical department to design special frames to hold components, guaranteeing uniform and effective treatment over all surfaces.
After cataphoresis, mechanical assembly with screws, using masking, was carried out, ensuring all surfaces, including coupling points, were completely protected.
Finally, the components were carefully packed to avoid any damage during handling and to ensure an efficient service for the customer.

Argos ST is a reliable partner for companies in the automotive industry, offering innovative surface treatments and surface coatings combined with rigorous management of the production process. Our ability to customise every treatment phase, from pre-treatment to final finishing, makes us a highly valuable partner for those seeking quality and precision in the world of electric cars.
