Today’s automotive market prefers the use of generic mechanical parts in AISI 316 stainless steel. This type of stainless steel is considered more suitable for industrial use because it guarantees greater resistance to corrosion compared to conventional V2A stainless steel.

Since not even V4A stainless steel (material no. 1.4404=AISI 316L) can withstand all chemical stresses, especially if they are constant and act over a long period of time, our technicians recommend treating the processed parts to increase their wear resistance and mechanical resistance.
This process, which creates a coating with surface hardness exceeding 950 HV, increases the durability of the individual parts, the efficiency of the system and the performance of the final product.
To obtain a surface hardness greater than 950 HV, the parts are coated in electroless nickel and then treated at temperatures of 330–350°C, an operation that lends a characteristic blue/purple colour.
