Anodizing meets high-speed transport

Anodizing, a process used to treat aluminium, involves a continuous induced current that transforms the base material by creating a protective oxide film on the surface.

Anodizing, which has always been very popular and used in the aeronautics and automotive markets, also covers a wide range of applications in other transport-related sectors. Here we present solutions offered by Argos Anodizing for rail transport..

In response to growing market demands, we extended our work in November 2020 to railway parts such as plates and flanges with guards.

These parts require great care, even in the preliminary stage. Before treatment, they are subject to a masking operation, because a carbon fibre tube will be glued on where the treatment is not applied.

The anodizing guarantees protection for the metal, even under the most intense stress (it is wear, abrasion and corrosion resistant). Its compactness and lack of porosity, on the other hand, prevent glues and paints from adhering, hence the importance of attention at every step in the process, including masking.

The result is a finished product that responds correctly to the application of glues and paints in the desired places, while guaranteeing resistance to atmospheric agents and wear for parts subject to anodizing.
