The advantages of Teflon PTFE coatings
Teflon PTFE, or polytetrafluoroethylene, is a particularly popular fluoropolymer widely used due to its high- and low-temperature resistance (it can withstand temperatures between -200°C and +260°) and to its chemical resistance, while maintaining antifriction and antiadhesive properties.
Teflon PTFE coating is dispersed after mechanical and/or chemical pre-treatment and is followed by heat treatment. Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) pertains to the three polymers with similar properties. As with the other two polymers, FEP and PFA, Teflon PTFE coating improves the non-stick properties, slide and chemical resistance of the base material. Teflon PTFE is used in TempCoat® coatings for parts where smoothness and/or non-stick properties are required, e.g. hoppers, slideways, welding rods, kneaders, blades for the food industry. It is also used in TempCoat 1001® coatings in the presence of mechanical stress where anti-seize properties, low-friction and dry lubrication are required, such as pins, bushings, transmission parts, gears, etc. Argos applies Teflon PTFE coatings on behalf of third parties, with UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 certification for such treatments.
